I based my infographic on "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller. My co-op and I are currently beginning a unit that revolves around this play, and I wanted to experiment with a final project idea we were planning to assign to our students towards the end of the unit. I put together a play summary, a character list, and paired quotes from the play with images from the
movie adaptation to align with the prominent themes in the play. This represents our expectations for this particular project, but, of course, my co-op and I want to grant the students as much creative freedom as possible, as long as the infographic remains faithful to the play.
Our students recently gained experience with infographics during a previous unit, and a majority of them genuinely enjoyed creating them. Observing them work on these infographics served as a clear indicator of their comprehension of the unit and the readings, and it allowed me to witness the artistic potential of my students. This is interesting because many of my students enjoy projects over traditional papers or tests. Plus, a lot of my students have difficulties in writing and organizing papers, so why not provide them the opportunity to unleash their creativity through artistic visuals, vibrant colors, and unique fonts?
I hope to use this infographic as an example when the time comes to introduce the final project, and I cannot wait to see what my students come up with.
